Dear Uterus-
Today has been a long day.
My eyes were opened to a lot of things today.
Placenta accreta is what caused this seperation.
According to ACOG there is an 80% detection rate of it in 2nd and third trimester ultrasounds.
We had a lot of ultrasounds. Everyone missed it.
The chances of Accreta goes up with subsequent pregnancies and c-sections. We were on pregnancy number four, and we had already had a c-section. No one looked for it.
Even when it's not caught on ultrasound it is almost always caught during a c-section. He didn't catch it.
When caught early on, hysterectomy can be avoided-- Either by early termination of the pregnancy, or planned pre-term c-section with strategic resection to save the uterus.
You could have been saved. You may not have been. But you could have been. I could have avoided almost dying. I could have avoided waking up to them telling me that I could no longer do something that has been a very important part of my life.
He let us down, and that makes me angry.
